1991 Fairline Targa 33 boat for sale from SureSail

1991 Fairline Targa 34 | Volvo KAD44s | Major Engine & Drive Refit | 400 Hours | Exceptional Example

A superbly presented and extensively upgraded Fairline Targa 34 with Volvo Penta KAD44 engines, approximately 400 hours, major recent engine and sterndrive investment, excellent accommodation and an extensive equipment package.

This is a particularly desirable example of the ever-popular Fairline Targa 34 and has benefited from substantial recent investment, including a complete rebuild of the starboard engine, new turbos and oil coolers to both engines, and fully reconditioned sterndrives.

The current owner has used and enjoyed the boat extensively and is only offering her for sale because an opportunity to upgrade has arisen.

A genuine turn-key Targa 34 with the major mechanical work already completed — ready to enjoy immediately.

Major Mechanical Investment

One of the standout features of this Fairline is the extensive work carried out to her propulsion system.

In 2004 she was repowered with Volvo Penta KAD44 turbocharged and supercharged diesel engines, providing excellent performance and a superb balance of power and economy. The engines have approximately 400 hours.

At the end of the 2024 season, the starboard engine suffered an oil cooler failure. Rather than simply repairing the issue, the owner took the opportunity to have the engine removed and completely rebuilt, representing an investment of approximately £12,500.

Further work included:

  • Both engine oil coolers replaced
  • New turbos fitted to both engines
  • Approximately £5,000 invested in this work
  • Both sterndrives replaced with fully reconditioned units
  • Sterndrive work supplied by James Tropp
  • Approximately £9,500 invested in the sterndrives

All major mechanical work was undertaken by Blue Water Marine, Pwllheli, with the owner extremely pleased with the quality of the work.

Following the works, the boat was used extensively throughout the 2025 season and again during the current season, reportedly performing faultlessly and without missing a beat.

This represents a substantial investment in the mechanical condition of the boat and gives a prospective purchaser considerable reassurance.

Accommodation

The Targa 34 offers surprisingly spacious accommodation for her size and is ideal for extended weekends, holidays and family cruising.

She provides two separate sleeping cabins, both with double berths:

  • Forward cabin with double berth
  • Aft cabin beneath the cockpit with double berth
  • Spacious saloon
  • U-shaped seating area
  • Well-equipped galley
  • Separate heads compartment with shower
  • Excellent storage throughout

The interior has been upgraded with white leather upholstery to the saloon seating, creating a bright, modern and welcoming environment.

Modern conveniences include Wi-Fi and three Smart TVs, while a number of the electrical sockets have been upgraded to incorporate USB charging points.

Cockpit & Exterior

The spacious cockpit is one of the Targa 34's greatest strengths and provides an excellent entertaining area when cruising or relaxing at anchor.

There is comfortable seating for approximately 6–8 people, with the cockpit seating recently reupholstered and presented in excellent condition.

The combination of generous cockpit space, excellent accommodation and strong performance makes the Targa 34 equally suited to family cruising, entertaining friends or simply enjoying weekends afloat.

The boat has also benefited from a professional machine polish and antifouling, with approximately £3,000 spent on the work.

Overall, she presents extremely well for a 1991 Fairline.

Navigation & Equipment

She is very well equipped, with an estimated £8,000–£10,000 worth of navigation, communication and onboard equipment.

Equipment includes:

  • GPS / navigation equipment
  • Ship-to-shore / VHF communications
  • Wi-Fi
  • Three Smart TVs
  • USB charging points
  • Electric sockets
  • Anchor
  • And much more

The equipment package makes her particularly well suited to comfortable cruising and extended stays aboard.

Survey

When the current owner originally purchased the boat, he commissioned a marine survey costing approximately £400, incorporating an extensive 500-point inspection.

The boat passed the survey with flying colours, and the surveyor was sufficiently impressed to remark that if the owner didn't buy her, he would buy her himself!

Berthing – Pwllheli, North Wales

The Fairline is currently lying in Pwllheli, North Wales, close to Abersoch, in a fantastic cruising location with easy access to the Llŷn Peninsula and surrounding waters.

A marine berth may be available by separate arrangement, potentially allowing the new owner to continue enjoying the boat from her current location.

The marina facilities include:

  • Free parking
  • Shower facilities
  • Electricity hook-up
  • Fresh water supply
  • Convenient access to the water

The boat measures approximately 38ft overall including the anchor and swim platform.

Brokerage Summary

This is a particularly appealing opportunity to acquire a well-equipped Fairline Targa 34 with a substantial amount of recent investment already completed.

The combination of Volvo Penta KAD44 engines, approximately 400 hours, comprehensively rebuilt starboard engine, new turbos and oil coolers, reconditioned sterndrives, recent cosmetic work and extensive onboard equipment makes this a boat that deserves serious consideration.

The current owner has clearly invested heavily in keeping the boat in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition and has continued to use and enjoy her since the major works were completed.

Reluctantly offered for sale due to the owner's consideration of upgrading.

A genuine opportunity to acquire a classic Fairline Targa 34 that has benefited from considerable recent expenditure and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
