Cornish Shrimper 21

Launch of the Cornish Shrimper 21 (2014–2015)

  • The Cornish Shrimper 21 was introduced around 2014–2015.
  • It was designed as a direct evolution of the Shrimper 19, not a replacement.
  • Early demand was strong, with boats sold off-plan before production began.

The design brief was clear:

  • Keep the “modern classic” gaffer aesthetic
  • Improve cockpit size and onboard accommodation
  • Maintain trailer-sailer practicality

Cornish Shrimper 21 Upgrades (2021–2022)

The biggest change by 2021–2022 was the move away from traditional diesel toward electric drive options:

  • Increasing use of ePropulsion 3kW pod systems
  • Lithium battery setups (e.g. ~175Ah systems)
  • Quiet, low-maintenance, emission-free motoring
  • Carbon mast upgrade

👉 Earlier boats (2014–2019) were typically:

  • Yanmar 1GM10 diesel (standard or common option)

👉 By 2022:

  • Electric propulsion became a very popular upgrade, sometimes replacing diesel entirely.
