Cornish Shrimper 21
Launch of the Cornish Shrimper 21 (2014–2015)
- The Cornish Shrimper 21 was introduced around 2014–2015.
- It was designed as a direct evolution of the Shrimper 19, not a replacement.
- Early demand was strong, with boats sold off-plan before production began.
The design brief was clear:
- Keep the “modern classic” gaffer aesthetic
- Improve cockpit size and onboard accommodation
- Maintain trailer-sailer practicality
Cornish Shrimper 21 Upgrades (2021–2022)
The biggest change by 2021–2022 was the move away from traditional diesel toward electric drive options:
- Increasing use of ePropulsion 3kW pod systems
- Lithium battery setups (e.g. ~175Ah systems)
- Quiet, low-maintenance, emission-free motoring
- Carbon mast upgrade
👉 Earlier boats (2014–2019) were typically:
- Yanmar 1GM10 diesel (standard or common option)
👉 By 2022:
- Electric propulsion became a very popular upgrade, sometimes replacing diesel entirely.
